The ECI-A is a newer variant of the Early Communication Indicator built for children diagnosed with or at risk for autism spectrum disorder. It measures directed communication and joint attention initiation alongside the standard expressive communication measures of the ECI. The ECI-A is just beginning to roll out, so this is positioned as an early-adopter offering for programs interested in being among the first to use it.
