TEST PC-TALK Strategy Manual

The full PC-TALK manual covering all eight language-promoting strategies, with examples, scripts, and guidance for use with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Free PDF in English and Spanish.

The PC-TALK Strategy Manual is the foundational document for the PC-TALK approach. It explains each of the eight strategies — arranging the environment, commenting and labeling, asking open-ended questions, following the child’s lead, imitating and expanding, giving praise and positive attention, providing choices, and fill-in-the-blank — with definitions, examples, and concrete suggestions for how to use them with children at different communication stages. The manual is available in English and Spanish, can be printed in color or black-and-white, and is intended for educators, home visitors, providers, and families.

PC-TALK strategies are grounded in research showing that frequent and varied early language experiences support communication growth in young children.
