About the Partner

Dr. Gretchen Scheibel is an Assistant Research Professor at Juniper Gardens. Her work sits where school behavior support meets school finance: making it possible for principals, district leaders, and state policy folks to see how much disruptive behavior actually costs in instructional time, staff turnover, and outcomes, and then to compare that cost against the cost of doing something about it. The centerpiece of Gretchen’s work for RTRW is an interactive Behavior Cost Calculator, modeled on the Learning Policy Institute’s teacher turnover calculator. Schools input a few numbers and see what the current state is costing them in dollars. She’s also validating a School Behavior Support Survey, which has interest from three states and the NEA. Gretchen presents the rural coaching model alongside Howard Wills at conferences, and she’s co-authoring a pro bono PBIS cost-benefit case study with Olathe (Kansas) Public Schools.
